The HyperV WinAPI Plugin is the newest and most advanced plugin available for backing up Hyper-V environments. It offers the most comprehensive set of features, ensuring seamless integration and efficient backups. Due to its robust functionality and extensive capabilities, this plugin is now the recommended solution for all Hyper-V backup needs.

The Hyper-V WinAPI Plugin provides Full, Differential, and Incremental backups of Hyper-V virtual machines without requiring local snapshots to be exported. In Failover Cluster environments, it can automatically migrate remote VMs to the local node for backup and return them to their original node afterward. The plugin also supports complete VM restores and Single Item Restore.

This documentation presents solutions for Bacula Enterprise 18.0 and higher, and is not applicable to prior versions of Bacula.
